Elisicia Moore the Founder and Director of Petit Miracle Interiors Ltd, a registered charity providing interior design training to people from disadvantaged groups.
Our Aims
To encourage participants to explore and understand the process of Interior Design and use this skill as a vehicle to improve their own living environment, to build confidence, to reduce social exclusion and provide opportunities for further training and employment.
We aim to provide work experience opportunities for successful participants where they turn their skills into practice by providing interior design advice and consultation to newly housed/formerly homeless people
I have worked in the non-profit sector and with a variety of clients, for almost 15 years (gulp) that shows my age!! When I first started working in the sector I supported people with disabilities in vocational and residential settings. I found this to be very rewarding and challenging work and after working full time for people with disabilities, owning my design business and living full time assisting a disabled person to live independently (exhausted just reading it) I decided to take a wee break! I thought I would move to London for 3-6 months, enjoy the capital and its fine people for the summer. Well, I loved the city and its people so much I decided to look for work and I choose to support a different client group altogether. I was lucky enough to obtain a position within an organization that supported homeless people managing an interior decorating program, where I also facilitated training in Interior Design. This is where I found my passion and knew that supporting vulnerable and homeless people through Social Enterprise was my purpose in life, 6 years later I am still here!
Petit Miracle Interiors was developed from working with people who had experienced homelessness and the common denominators that arose in employment training. Namely, many services offered were poorly attended by the female population and few training centres were able to offer qualifications to people with literacy issues. In a nutshell, Petit Miracle Interiors is an idea built from a need and as a way to fill gaps in the current service provision. Stay tuned as we will be launching a new concept in training.....ssshhh, it's called Design Bank....Look out for it.
