ABOUT THE GIG

www.westendunplugged.co.uk

We've had requests for a long time now to do a 'live lounge' style gig and so we thought it was about time we answered that call! We bring you, 'WEST END UNPLUGGED'. In this day and age of auto tune and miming, the likes of Radio One's 'Live Lounge' are really refreshing outlets, the chance to hear performers raw and unmastered. The West End has always been about live performance, so why not merge the two, and bring that 'live lounge' feel to the West End? But this time, not with backing tracks, but with a full, live band including a string quartet. Our wonderful MD Ellie Verkerk and Assistant MD Tom Curran have worked hard to bring each performer one of their favourite songs, but sounding entirely fresh and new, so that they'll have their own unique version to perform for our audience. From mash ups to acoustic versions to complete re-workings, you're set to hear some really exciting pieces. We bring this 'Live Lounge' vibe to the West End, but this time you don't have to watch it on youtube - you can watch it, before your very own eyes - live and in person at Leicester Square Theatre on Sunday October 30th at 7.30pm.

ABOUT THE CHARITY 'MY GENERATION'

We felt we wanted to use this gig to give back. We were as disturbed by the recent London riots as the next person, it was so upsetting to see beautiful parts of our capital being damaged and destroyed in mindless acts of violence. We scoured the internet, researching various charities who have been working hard for years to prevent young people from turning to crime. My Generation really impressed us because they know how to speak to the young generation and they invest in young people, as the future. 'MyGeneration aims to break the cycle of poverty, crime and ill-health in struggling communities, through people-centred sustainable change'. We are so proud to be donating proceeds from 'West End Unplugged' to My Generation and also so grateful to all of our performers, musicians and team (from designers to the people selling you raffle tickets on the night) for their selfless and committed involvement in our production, and to this cause.

ABOUT INTERVAL

Interval was established in 2009 because we saw a need to fill a gap in the market. Where were the groups for talented performers who were good enough to achieve their dreams, but who still hadn't had their big break? Not 'ameteur' but not currently starring in a West End show? Where do those performers go? As professional creatives ourselves, we know how hard you have to work - often for years before receiving that big break you so deserve. You have to take every opportunity you can to be cast into the public eye, to be noticed by agents who could help propel you into stardom, but we also realise the importance of being continually involved in reviews and performances that inspire, and are of a high standard. Which is exactly what we do.

Since our humble beginnings, we are fast establishing a reputation for producing top notch performances, and for being passionate about promoting and supporting new talent, and new music. Our performers have sung on stage with professionals from the West End stages of Avenue Q, Wicked, We Will Rock You, Spring Awakening The Musical, the West End Gospel Choir, BBCs Search For A Dorothy, and an Emmy Award winning composer. Additionally, many of them have gone on to achieve their dreams and make them a reality. Andy Coxon who has worked with Interval from the beginning has been touring in Evita and Jennifer Potts, a 2010 Ensembelle has been touring with Joseph as The Narrator.

West End Leading Ladies and Gents are now Interval regulars because they too feel passionate about performing music that doesn't always get as much attention as it deserves, and because they also enjoy working alongside new talent, and because they too know what it's like to be an out of work actor. Why not fill those in between times with performances and productions you can be proud of? Interval is all about showing people to the best of their ability and about working together and supporting each other to boost the confidence that is so often lost in all the rejection in this industry, to bring attention to performers who deserve it and to music that needs to be shared, and to also bring our audiences the kind of music they want to hear, performed by the singers they want to hear it sung by. We listen to our audiences, their opinion matters and we hope that every show they come to, they leave with a new favourite song, composer or singer. Maybe all three.
