New devised show about a woman's experiences on the home front in World War II.

It's 1945 and a wife is anxiously waiting on a railway station for her husband, Stanley, to return from the front. The train arrives full of homecoming soldiers but Stanley doesn't appear. What follows next are her anxious imaginings of what might have happened to him, intercut with flashbacks of her own experiences of the war on the Home Front and showing what has really been happening to Stanley during the war. Clown and puppetry combine to tell this touching story in a warm and often funny way.

That's the concept for the show. Here's who we are and how we're going to make it happen:

'Waiting For Stanley' is performed by Leela Bunce; co-devised by Alexander Parsonage and Leela Bunce. It is being produced in association with Greenwich Theatre.

The Royal British Legion are behind this production and the Royal Army Museum are giving us access to their archives which will really give a breadth and authenticity to the piece. Leela has spoken with several WWII veterans to get their first-hand experiences and they've been so supportive of what we're trying to do.

All of this support is exciting and amazing - but we also need funds to be able to make the show happen.

This idea started as a cabaret piece but has steadily been gaining momentum to become a full-scale production. Now we need your support to be able to fully develop these exciting ideas and create the full show.

A 'work in progress' performance will be at Greenwich Theatre on 24th May 2011 as part of their 'Emerging Artists' season. In Autumn 2011 we'll be launching the full production.

Finger in the Pie are one of the most exciting and visually stunning emerging theatre companies in the UK; combining physical story telling with detailed historical research and infusing it with humour and playfulness. We were short-listed for ‘Total Theatre Award: Best Emerging Company’ at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival with our critically acclaimed production of 'Sweeney Todd: His Life, Times and Execution'.

Leela Bunce is an experienced clown and cabaret performer who has appeared in many shows in London, around the UK and in Italy. She is one of the country's leading laughter therapists and director of Shinetime, running laughter workshops across London and the UK. She performs burlesque as Audacity Chutzpah and with 'The Night of the Blue Stockings' has been Time Out 'Critics Choice' almost every month in the last year.

Please support the development and creation of this exciting show, offering an insight into women's experiences in wartime. Experiences as relevant today as they were in WWII.
