Hello! We are a young, fresh, completely self-funded production company!

We don't want to rely on gimmicks, flashy videos or sob-stories. All we want to show you is who we are and what we do. The video you can watch is a simple set of photos from our productions over the last 3 years. We hope you will see how we've progressed with no financial help! Imagine what we could do with your help!

We like to give new writing by new writers a chance (The Kebabman Cometh 2010), we also like to put on published plays (Table Manners 2011) and we LOVE to produce the odd musical (Jesus Christ Superstar 2008 & Tick, tick...BOOM! 2012) here and there! There is more about our company below!

In May 2012 we are putting on a one-night performance of Jonathon Larson's hit Tick, tick...BOOM at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre in Wales.
Having no money, we need your help to make this happen!
We are looking for people to put in any money they can to help us afford the rights, rehearsal materials, set, costumes and props (and everything in between!). In return, we will credit you in the programme, and a special thanks will be made!

We RELY on help of others, and often that is from strangers, actors, and just friends! Without them we could not function, and continue to persue becoming a full-time, profit making company. Our ethos is to treat our actors, audience and production teams how WE would like to be treated.

Another GREAT reason to help, is that we will be donating a percentage of all profits to charity!
The most likely candidated for our donation is currently the Help Harry Help Others charity (part of Cancer Research) in memory of 11 year old Harry Moesley who sadly lost his battle against an inoperable brain tumour very recently!

Although our company is based in London, we will be performing at Wales' largest Arts Centre as they run a fantastic scheme known as the "Open Platform Scheme" which gives companies like ours a chance to perform our work!
Provided this show is successful we will hopefully be performing a longer run at a London fringe venue!

About US:
What Was That? Productions was founded by Alan Mehdizadeh in 2004 as a means of supporting young talent and providing a 'home' for emerging artistes and new writing.

Having presented our first production of 'WHOA' in 2005, the company has gone on to produce several showcases, short films, full scale musicals and stage plays around the UK.

In May 2010 - we were invited by the Open Platform Scheme to perform 'The Kebab Man Cometh' - Directed by Alan Mehdizadeh at The Aberystwyth Arts Centre.

The production was received by a sell out audience and attained outstanding reviews. In addition, we were fortunate to have used a cast of seven ex-Aberystwyth Drama graduates who are all now professional actors.

Most recently we returned to Aberystwyth Arts Centre with a sell out production of Alan Ayckbourn's 'Table Manners' - Directed by Adam Lacey. (featuring Alan Mehdizadeh, Steven Humpherson, Michael Anders, Elaine Hartley, Laura Bacon and Sarah Annakin).

We pride ourself on producing exciting Stage Plays and Musicals - both old and new - and Short Films. Using a selection of young, talented individuals we have been fortunate to attain an outstanding reputation to date through the standard of our work.
