A startling and magical adaptation of The Tempest, with characters representing diversity; including Disability, Mental Health, LGBT & Ethnic Minorities (by working with representative members from local charities) to create a positive community of difference. It will also bring Shakespeare to audiences who don't feel they can engage with it.

The play will be performed at The White Bear Theatre, Kennington, between the 11th - 16th January 2012 as part of a season of 'new approaches to Shakespeare'.

It will also receive widespread attention of the media.

Charities that we work with will receive part of Box Office takings as part of their commitment of the play.

The most amazing thing about the project is that is bridges the gap between established artists, talented graduates and the community we will be performing in, to create a true community piece.

Here is a full breakdown of the budget we have asked for.
(Please be assured that we have tried to keep the costs down as much as possible)

£500 - Set/Costume/Prop Design.
£925 - Actors Wages
£125 - Sound/Lighting Design
£200 - Advertising
£125 - Crew Wages
£125 - Overheads

Rehearsals will be open to workshops during the rehearsal run.

The project will also be subject to a documentary and filming of the final product for posterity.

By donating to this project you will become part of it, you will meet a friendly, talented and dedicated cast and crew, get an opportunity to know and work with them.

Fundraising, By Hook or by Crook

Posted on 25/10/2011

Further to the money I am trying to raise here, I am not being idle. Such is one's dedication in production's past, that I usually just gave loads of my student loan to fund things, even when we had a Student's Union. Now I am calling upon everyone to give money in exchange for things, embarrassing letters and pleas to good friends for one. I may also say, instead of giving me Christmas presents this year, fund this project, would that be too mental! For now, I have ransacked my DVD collection, and would you believe, 11 high quality ones would garner the princely sum of £12.40!! I will also be taking my coppers down to 'star-coin' at the local Sainsbury's. Does anyone have any nifty fundraising tips?

Creative Exchanges

Posted on 24/10/2011

One of my favourite things about producing Theatre, is the skilled and talented people you come into contact with. For a lot of graduates and even established creative people, exposure is paramount. That is why, exchanging skills is also a great way to bring budgets of plays down, and this is something I am very interested in doing. I am more than happy to offer my services as a writer, director and my contacts in the industry, (Professional Actors, Photographers, designers) in exchange for things that cost. So if anyone has; - Costume Making experience (or lots of old clothes....) - Ditto raw materials for Set-Building. - A lighting Operator. - A driver for the day. Stuff like that, also I may have stuff you may need that I have lying about that I wouldn't even know about! Have a think, if people had spare stuff as outlined above that's already saving £500+ of the budget (and you'd be entitled to the rewards we laid out to boot).
