TAKETH ME AWAY is the latest production from THE GIRL NEXT DOOR THEATRE COMPANY, which aims to put on new, fresh and exciting work. It provides a chance for young, up and coming writers, directors and actors to produce their own work and create their own opportunities.
It was set up in January 2009, by sisters Mady and Marina Niel. Their debut production was HIS GHOSTLY HEART by 'Skins' writer and Star of Tomorrow Ben Schiffer, which took place at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2009 (Pleasance Courtyard).
'Anybody who has ever loved will be left an emotional wreck by a play which is impossibly personal to every single audience member. A masterpiece inspired by our inner-most thoughts.' (5 Stars) Three Weeks.
This year's play 'Taketh Me Away' will be performed daily at the Pleasance Courtyard (one of Edinburgh's most prestigious venues) - 3.15pm between 3rd-29th August 2011.
"August 2011. Robbie is about to take to the stage
with his old/new band Take That
Cut to.
Northern England, the nineties: Take That posters cover the walls of a small single bedroom. Helen in cycling shorts and a baggy Take That T-Shirt sits on the bed..."
Taketh Me Away is a hilarious, yet heartbreaking story about Helen and her obsession with Jason Orange, the other three beautiful boys and...fat Gary.
