Please help RoundPeg raise funds to present “Swifter, Higher, Stronger” at the Roundhouse Studio on May 16th and 17th 2011!
THE PROJECT
In response to London 2012, RoundPeg are launching themselves as a theatre company with Swifter, Higher, Stronger: a breathtaking piece of multimedia, multi-genre theatre offering a fresh and ambitious take on the London Olympic story. A sprint through our capital over the last 100 years, hurdling the Olympics of 1908, 1948 and 2012 and synchronising the personal narratives of the female Olympians who took part.
Set in a timeless Olympic female changing room and featuring an all-female cast of seven young performers, Swifter, Higher, Stronger is a vivid theatrical collage encompassing archive footage, a sonic landscape, Music-hall, Swingtime, current pop culture, dance routines and the National Anthem; taking in the Suffragettes, a group of synchronized swimmers, a hurdler, a gymnast, an ice-skater, a high-jumper, a swimmer, an archer and a cleaner.
Swifter, Higher, Stronger looks beyond the façade of organised sport; celebrating the women behind the medals and the personal stories behind the successes and tribulations. A unique perspective on the way athletics, politics, national identity, feminism, London and global dynamics have shifted since 1908.
THE COMPANY
Swifter, Higher, Stronger is the launch project of RoundPeg. RoundPeg is a dynamic, young, all-female theatre company on a mission to create exciting, innovative work that plays with theatrical convention and audience expectation. We are committed to responding to what is most current, with a pervading ethos of exploring the forever-changing roles of women in a constantly shifting society.
But, to make this happen, we need your help!
Literally every pound helps and anything you are able to donate will help to get this incredibly exciting show on its feet at the Roundhouse in May. All being well, we hope that “Swifter, Higher, Stronger” will have a life far beyond this. Our current plans for this piece of work that your hard-earned money has lovingly helped to make, include taking it to Bestival, Camp Bestival, Camden Fringe and ultimately featuring as part of the London Cultural Olympiad in 2012.
We need your help to raise £2100 to enable this to happen. Please support us if you can!
HOW YOUR MONEY WILL BE USED
Any donation will go directly towards the making of the show: ensuring we have a set, costumes and the fairly complex technical equipment required to make the thrilling piece of multimedia theatre to which we aspire.
Thank you for looking. Thank you for helping. We literally couldn’t do it without you.
