Theatre503, Sophie Watson and paper/scissors/stone theatre company present 'Many Moons', the stellar debut play by Alice Birch at Theatre503 in May 2011.
'Juniper is looking for love, Robert is trying to avoid it, Ollie doesn’t know what it is and Meg has resigned herself to never having it. As these four people move through a July day in London, they orbit each other, unaware that they are hurtling towards one moment that could devastate them all'
This young creative team is made up of writer Alice, director Derek, designer James, lighting designer Sally and producer Sophie.
'Alice Birch is one of the most exciting young playwrights in British theatre. She writes with a real linguistic fluidity that is coupled with a rare and exciting sense of the visceral nature of theatre. Her work is witty and frightening by turns' (Simon Stephens)
paper/scissors/stone are a theatre company whose process is driven by a shared obsession with story, space and sensation. The strength of their work lies in a ‘feedback loop’ of creativity, where the lighting and set design ideas feed into how the play is directed as strongly as the direction feeds the design. This process of creating work sets out to re-establish theatre-making as a genuinely collaborative model; open discussion around the aesthetic and artistic constructs of the play results in a form of ‘total theatre’.
We firmly believe that Theatre503 as the home of ‘Fearless New Writing’ and a particular champion of new playwrights, offers the ideal context for the presentation of this play.
In supporting ‘Many Moons’ you will be enabling this group of young artists to present work of ambition and quality to the widest possible audience.
