Following its successful run at the Old Red Lion theatre in Islington, 2010, Darbourne Luff and Upstart Theatre are teaming to present the UK tour and New York run of this stunning new play by Nicholas Pierpan, this autumn.
We are appealing to you to support the arts and the next generation of theatre-makers and to get us over the final hurdle.
“An hour and a half of solo power” The Observer
“Gripping” Metro
We are taking the show to five theatres across the UK in Exeter, Salisbury, Hull, Bradford and to Soho Theatre in London, and for a run at the prestigious “Brits off Broadway” festival in New York City.
The play is directed by Matthew Dunster, one of the UK’s hottest directors (National Theatre, Young Vic and Shakespeare’s Globe) and features the rising star Felix Scott (‘DC Jason Doyle’ in BBC’s Missing and recently seen in the movie smash Inception). Nicholas Pierpan has crafted excellent brutally honest and blisteringly funny story of intrigue and power politics set in the heart of the financial district in the lead up to the global meltdown.
Torn between Chilean lithium deals and finding his first love once again, one man battles to find his way in the tough worlds of love and finance. Rising from nowhere to become a City trader, when he realises the sky’s the limit he finds his only problems are the people in his way.
Building on our first production, we are taking the show to new audiences on both sides of the ‘pond’. We are grateful to be supported by the Society of London Theatre, through the award of a Stage One Bursary. However we have a shortfall of £5,000 and appeal to you, the supporters of the next generation of theatre-makers, for donations to help us continue the life of this fantastic play.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. But please see the pledges on this page to see what you can receive in return for your support.
“A fine production from Matthew Dunster … Felix Scott is mesmerising”
