Living the Dream Easter Showcase

As a result of being offered a place at the National Youth Theatre, Zoe Jackson set up Living the Dream Performing Arts Company (LTD) in 2006 at the age of 16. She decided that a way for her to subsidise her course fees would be to create her own performing arts company and produce shows in order to provide a spotlight for young people to showcase their talent, not just on stage, but behind the scenes as well.
Since then, our company has grown beyond recognition and is made up of over 150 talented young people, aged 3-25 who produce, direct, choreograph and perform in an annual variety showcase without any input or supervision from adults.
The company’s ethos is to inspire young people and watch them grow in confidence, talent, self esteem and emerge proudly after a performance, having discovered their own strengths - and most of all, have fun. The show will give everyone the opportunity to show what a group of talented young people can achieve on their own..
We are committed to supporting and developing young people from all walks of life; therefore, we do not charge expensive fees for involvement in the show or any classes or workshops we run.
LTD is unique: we give our members the opportunity to feel empowered and to develop skills in many different roles such as script writer, choreographer or director. Everyone’s voice is valued and each individual is involved in the decision making and creative process, utilising everyone’s potential. By putting young people’s voices at the core of LTD’s creative process, it has raised the aspirations of our company members and given them much more confidence in what they can achieve.
This year’s sixth annual showcase promises to be bigger and better than ever and will include a range of drama, dance and musical theatre pieces, comedy improvisation, street dance, contemporary, hip hop and jazz dance. Everything done by young people.
Every single pound you donate will help us make this happen – please help if you can. Any donation you make (and please ask anyone and everyone else too!) will be used to make our showcase an incredible experience for our company, but also wow our audience. Funds raised from WeFund will go towards the cost of theatre hire, rehearsal space, costumes, props, licenses, printing, and travel expenses. Leftover funds (of which we hope there will be lots) will go towards funding our dance and musical theatre classes, holiday workshops and taking our showcase to other venues in the UK.
Thank you for taking the time to read about us and we hope that you can help us help young people live their dream!
What they said about last year's showcase
"I saw Living The Dream's Showcase in 2010 and was totally overwhelmed by the entire show. It is the third year that I have seen the show but for me last night was a pinnacle. The entire production was exciting and unique. The dancing was a wonder to watch, the singing was full of passion and the comedy had us all in fits of laughter. I am certainly no expert in the performing arts, but I know that I and the rest of the audience had a remarkable evening's entertainment. It is hard to believe how young your performers are and yet how polished their performances were. As one gentleman said as he was leaving the theatre, 'I have paid more than £75 to see a show that was half as good as that AND I thought the show brilliant, but completely outshone by these talented kids'. I have to agree with him. You, Zoe and the rest of your performers are a credit to the future of the performing arts in this country. Again I thank you for a fantastic evening and look forward to next year's show" - Keith Light
