Little Bear is a dark fairytale where an enchanted wood is full of our childhood memories. Written as part of an experimental workshop, Little Bear is based on stories of what happened to our members when they were children. What made them excited? Frightened? What still frightens them? In this way the project aims to provide catharsis for those involved and the audience.

Our story follows Ula, a little girl lost in the wood. Her journey home brings her into contact with Tarwe, a mischievous sprite in need of a friend. An ancient sorceress's feuding with the hunter has left the forest in perpetual night. Only Ula can do what is necessary.

Your pledge will go towards making this show a reality. We need your help so we can buy costumes, props, and spread the word about the show. Every donation is appreciated. Check out the incentives to see just what you can get by getting involved.

Performance dates: International Youth Arts Festival, Studio 101 Kingston College. Sunday 3 July 20:30, Tuesday 5 July 18:00, Wednesday 6 July 10:30. Then Camden Fringe, St Martin's Garden. Monday-Wednesday 1-3 August 19:00 and Friday-Sunday 5-7 August 19:00.

We did it

Posted on 01/07/2011

Thank you for all your support. It has been wonderful to know so many people believe in us and want to help. Little Bear has its first outing on Sunday. Rehearsals have gone very well and the show is looking fantastic. 3 nights at the IYAF and 7 performances at Camden to look forward to. We are currently hard at work on where Little Bear is heading next. Still lots to do so I've got to be brief. Just remember we couldn't have done it without you. Thank you! Ryan

Over 200%

Posted on 10/06/2011

Wow! Little Bear is the first wefund project ever to break the 200% mark. We couldn't have done it without you. The extra money is going straight into making the show better. Better costumes Better publicity Better everything. On Monday we are filming a new trailer for Little Bear. We'll be launching it here first. So keep checking back and keep telling your friends to donate. We could be the first project to hit 500%. That is something to write home about. Ryan

100%

Posted on 06/06/2011

First of all, a huge thank you to all our funders. We've hit our 100% target and your £500 will be spent well. We had our first rehearsal with the full cast yesterday and I can report that they all get on wonderfully well. Producer Chris Walsh came too and he had a blast, with lots of excellent ideas for the show. Hitting the 100% mark takes one big thing off my to do list, but there are another 12 things to do today, so don't think me rude if I'm brief. You can still donate! There is nothing stopping us from hitting 200% and making £1000! Keep checking back here for exciting updates and we'll see you in July and August. Ryan

Rehearsals

Posted on 31/05/2011

Morning everyone, Enjoy the bank holiday weekend? The Little Bear camp spent the weekend working hard at rehearsals. The show is really taking shape now. We've injected lots of physical comedy and raw energy into the piece so it will grab you from the start. We had a brilliant photographer in on Sunday. Maz Edwards took over 600 shots through out the day. I'll share some of the best with you but I want you to please keep donating and if you have already been kind enough to donate, spread the word. Also, check out Maz's website: http://www.aedwardsphotography.co.uk/ We are heading towards our goal but we need more donations. In the mean time, here is the lovely Laura as Ula. Can't wait to show you more photos. Ryan

Costume Sketches part 2

Posted on 30/05/2011

Hello WeFunders, We got half way towards our £100 target yesterday - so you have earned seeing half the costumes sketches. I've attached the costume design for Jaeger - the fearsome hunter. Jaeger is the former lover of Genevieve, see her costume below on an earlier blog post, is now determined to bring eternal darkness to the forest. His costume reflects his part in nature: brutal, savage and wild. He carries a horn on a strap across his chest which he uses to open the season. Please keep donating - there are two more costume designs to see and lots of pictures from our rehearsals. Thank you for your support and involvement, Ryan

Costumes

Posted on 29/05/2011

Hello everyone, Production on Little Bear is really heating up now. Got a rehearsal starting at 12 so I'll be quick. The costume designs are in, here is your sneak peak at Genevieve. We make another £100 today and I'll show you some more of the characters! Ryan

Here we go

Been a busy week in the world of Little Bear. The IYAF program has been launched. After hours of auditions, and seeing a lot of talented people, we have selected a wonderful cast. And our first donations are in! The IYAF program is now live. http://www.iyafestival.org.uk/ You can find Little Bear in there (page 10) and loads of other great shows inside. Book your tickets online at http://www.kingston.gov.uk or call 020 8547 5417 Laura Markham will be playing our hero Ula. Laura is full of beans, a natural story teller and we caught her playing with trees every time she thought we weren't watching. Sean Hammond is Tarwe, our mischievous sprite. Sean brings great energy to Tarwe, sure to grab the audience's attention from the start. Michelene Moris plays Genevieve, the guardian of the wood. Michelene brings a majestic air to the character, wise and graceful. Edward Badham and myself shall be splitting the role of Jaeger, the hunter. One night the hunter will be crushed in a quiet defeat, the next a madman with nothing to lose. Rehearsals will start next week and it's bound to be a lot of fun. We'll keep you up to date with the goings on. Thank you for those who have supported us already, we are well on the way. Tell your friends and keep the donations coming! This is your show, get in touch with your ideas for it, what you'd like to see on the blog or incentives you want. By popular demand we will film the show and make DVDs of the performance. Thanks everybody, Ryan
