Kissing Sid James opened at the New Red Lion Theatre in January this year to rave reviews.
"Laugh-out loud funny" (Time Out)
"***** Uproarious...but the sadness of both characters is what pierces the heart" (What's On Stage - London)
"Funny, heart-warming, tear-jerking" (The Stage)
We have now been offered the exciting opportunity to take our production to the famous 'Brits Off Broadway' Festival at the the 59e59 Theater in New York, an Off-Broadway theatre complex dedicated to bringing innovative and experimental productions to Manhattan. This will be the US premiere of Kissing Sid James.
The play extended twice in London and both cast members were nominated for OffWestEnd.com awards for Best Male/Female actor. Director Jason Lawson went on to work on Arcadia on Broadway and on Backbeat in the West End.

The play tells the story of Eddie (a stationary salesman) and Crystal (a casino croupier) and their attempt to find love during a rainy weekend in a run-down, out-of-season English seaside town. In turns hysterically funny and desperately sad, Kissing Sid James was written by Robert Farquhar, the renowned British playwrite whose past work includes Gods Official, Dust to Dust and Dead Heavy Fantastic.
Cracking Up Productions was founded in 2005 with the specific aim of bringing unpublished and rarely performed plays to the London stage. Past productions include “Danny’s Wake” at the New End Theatre, Hampstead; Kings Head, Islington; West End and Edinburgh Pleasance; “Huge” at the King’s Head and Edinburgh Pleasance. We are currently involved in a screenplay written by Simon Farquhar. We are a small, new company looking to show our current work in other parts of the world.
