I'm a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and educator, from the Scottish Highlands. I'm hoping to synthesize my folk roots with my passion for jazz while studying at the Berklee College of Music - one of the largest and most prestigious contemporary music colleges in the world. After my studies I will launch my music career as a solo artist in the UK.

Studying in Boston is expensive. At present, I can only just afford 1 semester of study. I need to raise a total of £36,000 to cover the total fees and living costs for one year of study (2 semesters) at Berklee! So far I have managed to raise a third of this total in scholarships, bursaries and loans. I cannot earn any money from gigs or teaching when I'm at Berklee due to United States student visa regulations and restrictions.

I need your help; through WeFund I aim to raise £4000 towards the costs before classes start on 12th September 2011. If I don't make the total in time I get nothing, so the pressure's on! After you've signed up with WeFund (it's easy) you can pledge anything from a fiver up to a grand (no money leaves your account now), and if I do manage to meet (or exceed!) the £4000 target then Paypal transfers your pledge money to me in mid September. Your contribution will help me achieve my ambition to study jazz in the country where it was born, and further, will greatly enhance my skill as a leading professional Scottish folk/jazz fusion musician. In exchange for your pledges, I'm offering a variety of music services (see pledges details on the right).

Thank you so much everyone. I'm up to 58% This really is getting exciting! So far I have 11 tunes to write! 40 or so hugs to give out. 10 or so signed albums to give out. And two UK house concerts! Got my work cut out. All the best and many many thanks again folks! Hamish

Many thanks to all those who have contributed. Remember what you pledge now will not leave your account until after the project finish date, 12th September - that is unless I fail to meet the target (in which case I get none of any of the money!).
