I am a psychologist working for the UK based charity Down Syndrome Education International.
I am running a study which is evaluating a programme that has been specially designed to help young children with Down syndrome improve their problem solving skills. Young children with Down syndrome often have poor problem solving skills and tend to give up when a task gets too hard. Early intervention is likely to have a significant positive benefit for their future development.
The programme I am evaluating is a series of fun activites that parents can do with their child at home to help their child develop better problem solving skills and spend more time persisting at difficult tasks. I am looking for funding to help me share the findings of this project at a conference (International Society of Early Intervention) in May 2011. If I receive funding I will be able to successfully share my findings with researchers and professionals who are experts in Early Intervention- who then can share this information with families all over the world. The Charity I work for are unable to fund this trip at the present, so if I do not find funding, I will not be able to make this trip and share my research.
All the people who pledge money for this project, will be acknowledged on the presentation and on our website downsed.org (if they wish!).
Thanks for reading! Your support is very much appreciated!
