I Capture the Castle, the musical, is based on the novel by Dodie Smith (who wrote 101 Dalmatians) with libretto and lyrics by Teresa Howard and music by award winning composer Steven Edis. I Capture the Castle is a coming of age story about a 17 year old girl, her madly eccentric family and first taste of love, all captured in a diary which she hopes to one day publish as a book. It was made into a film with Romola Garai and Bill Nighy in 2003. We are now hoping to bring this musical into full production, to open and tour the UK.
Musicals take a great deal of work to bring to fruition. We have already had a workshop and showcase at the Royal Academy of Music and the next stage will be a two week workshop and showcase to develop industry interest which Kelmscott Productions (our company) are producing in partnership with Watford Palace Theatre. The workshop will be in Watford and showcase at a Central London venue (TBA).
It will be directed by Watford's Artistic Director Brigid Larmour and will have a cast of West End and professional actors playing the roles in the show. The Lottery fund through the Arts Council Grants for the Arts have provided us with a grant towards this workshop, but we need a little extra help in order to make sure the showcase is a success.

Pledge something towards this project and you could be helping a new musical get off the ground and even be coming to the private showcase on Friday 23rd March 2012 and rubbing shoulders with actors and top west end producers, there will also be drinks after the showcase and a Q & A with the creative team.
