THE PROJECT
Please help us raise funds to bring THE HISTORY OF THE POMEGRANATE to Jacksons Lane Theatre, London in Autumn 2011.
THE HISTORY OF THE POMEGRANATE is an innovative piece of cross disciplinary theatre that sets out on a playful and profound journey through the magical and mystical history of the pomegranate. With a unique blend of humour, song, physical and textual storytelling and haunting loop-pedal soundscapes the show blends the classical with the whimsical, is profound yet gloriously playful and exposes the universal richness of being female, fecund and fat with life.
AUDIENCE REVIEWS FROM 2009
“ Infectious humour, A wonderful and enchanting evening”
“Incredibly original: The mixture of the music, the lyrics, the dramatic with the comedy was wonderful”
“I am so intrigued by the pomegranate now, is this normal?”
SYNOPSIS
Is it possible that a single fruit could transcend each religion, conquer every continent and even boost your sperm count? Is the pomegranate really the symbol of everlasting life? From the turmoils of Persephone to the temptations of Eve, Lewis Barfoot unearths the magic and mystery of this mythical fruit, in her debut solo performance.
