Let your senses be seduced with the playfully anarchic and darkly sexy world of Bluebeard: A Fairytale for Adults.
Pedal powered riotous theatre. Journey through a world of homespun contraptions and cabaret song. An unsavoury tale of a fairy-tale womaniser and his new prey. Milk Presents explore what is presented as normal in relation to gender and sexuality in the stories we all tell.
Milk Presents’ debut at the Edinburgh fringe is based on the French literary folktale Bluebeard – a tale of a violent nobleman in the habit of murdering his wives and the attempts by one of them to avoid the fate of her predecessors.
What inspires Milk Presents’ work is an obsession with what is widely perceived as ‘normal’ in relation to gender and sexuality and a curiosity in the gender roles that still bind many of the stories we tell.
“not short of magical surprises. . .clever staging and imaginative songs this piece becomes impossible not to enjoy"
A Young Theatre, 2011
