In November 2010 not-for-profit writing group Telltales published its first anthology, a beautiful little periodical showcasing talent from across the writing spectrum.

Profiling established writers alongside fresh blood, The Parabola Project Issue I: Origins was all about style and substance; captivating short stories, novel extracts, travel journals, poetry and prose, all married with eye-catching design and eye-popping photography and illustrations.

It went down a storm. Our featured writers have been approached by literary agents because of it, our designers have won awards off the back of it and readers have been in touch praising what it is trying to do for the UK's creative writing scene.

That's when we realised there's a real buzz around Parabola and we should try to seize on that buzz to turn it into something sensational.

So, we want to make Issue II of the Parabola Project even bigger and better; profiling more writers, reaching further afield, offering more to readers and connecting with new communities who could be inspired by what the UK’s contemporary creative writing scene has to offer.

But we can’t do it without you. We don't pay ourselves or our contributors and every penny made from every copy of Issue I has gone back into the pot to print issue II, however to make it bigger and better we need more.

The £2000 we hope to raise through Wefund will top up our production costs, helping us make The Parabola Project Issue II fatter, packed full of even more writing and illustration talent.

It will go towards spreading the word about Parabola, helping us distribute copies and keep up with demand.

And most of all it will go towards promoting what The Parabola Project is trying to do, providing opportunities for writers and imagemakers to get their work out to whole new audiences, and helping to propel the creative scene forward.

Please support the creative writing scene by pledging whatever you see fit.

We have lots of lovely incentives, from launch invites and publishing opportunities to exclusive illustrated posters. So take a look at the list on the right of the screen and hopefully something you see will tickle your fancy.

Whether its £10, £50 or £250 every pledge is going to make a real difference.

We really want to make The Parabola Project Issue II the best it can be and we would love to have you involved in it.

Thanks for reading this and we hope to be celebrating our Wefund success with you soon...

Full Steam Ahead!

Posted on 06/10/2011

It's been a while since we updated you all, but things are going full steam ahead with issue II of The Parabola Project.

We've been grafting away editing and reworking the content to make sure our 12 writers' stories and poems are the very best they can be and we're mighty excited about how it's all shaping up.

Of course it would be even better if the talented writers on the reserve list could be included in issue II as well, their work is vibrant exciting and engaging and would really add something special to the book.

But the only way we're going to be able to get those writers featured is if our production pot can be pepped up and we can add extra pages to fit them in.

Which is where Wefund comes in. We're so pleased that so many people have shown their support and pledged to make The Parabola Project Issue II even bigger and better, but with only three weeks left and just over half the way there, we have a long way to go.

Please, please, please help to spread the word and dig deep so that we can give the wordsmiths on our reserve list the chance to see their work in print.

Parabola Project isn't about vanity and it isn't about showboating. It's about giving incredible writing talent the profile, readership and context they deserve, presenting their words beautifully and treating readers to something really special.

Thanks for all your support so far. Just one more big push....

Videoblog 4: Offputting camera man, a first edit and images

Posted on 07/09/2011

It's been a week since we last updated you on how everything is going at Parabola HQ, so here's our next Video Blog. The editing gremlins seem to have had their way and refused to let me upload the snipped version, so I'm afraid I haven't been able to snip out being put off by the camera man (thanks Zander)! Makes it more realistic I suppose. We hope you like what you see enough to dig into your pockets and pledge. Parabola is really starting to take shape now, but it could be so much more if we manage to hit our Wefund target. Fingers Crossed. Until next time...

Videoblog 3 - Editorial Meetings and Contents

Posted on 31/08/2011

Fancy seeing the progress with Parabola Project Issue II for yourself? Check out our video blog Just back from a fruitful reading team meeting and we're excited. The Parabola Project Issue II contents list has taken shape. We have created two lists, the first which will happen regardless; made up of the content which we can afford to produce thanks to the sales of Issue I of Parabola. The second made up of additional content from talented writers who we would love to publish if we manage to hit out Wefund target. As of today, 31 August, we've reached exactly a third of our target total but we've still got a long way to go. If you like the sound of what we're trying to do, please, please pledge...

Wefunding at Port Eliot Festival

Posted on 31/07/2011

Well, on Friday 22 July we took over the Round Room in Port Eliot's stately home as part of the Port Eliot Festival - a weekend of words, comedy and music in glorious southeast Cornwall. Telltales performed a special set at the festival, showcasing the talent of six writers who blew the audience away with their captivating words and mesmerising performances. It was also a great opportunity to spread the word about our Wefund campaign and plug pledging, to hopefully get more people onto our profile and supporting our project. We handed out specially produced fliers, talked to as many people as possible and sold a fair few copies of Parabola Issue I too. We've made a short film of the Port Eliot Festival set which we'll upload for wefunders to watch soon. In other news, today is the last day of submissions for Parabola Project Issue II and we've got a bulging folder of stories to read over the next month. We'll keep you posted on how it goes...

Thanks to our Wefunders so far!

Posted on 25/07/2011

Just a quick blog to say thank you to our Wefunders so far. Our project went live on Thursday and we started to spread the word. Immediately four people put their hands in their pockets and pledged to support us. We really appreciate it and hope that many others will follow suit. Keep checking the blog for progress updates both with the Wefund campaign and with The Parabola Project Issue II production process. We're starting to pull together the content next week. Exciting times... http://www.wordslikepictures.com/telltales
