Who we are
Doppelganger Productions are a new writing company who are currently producing the work of award winning playwright John Foster. In the future we aim to expand and produce works by other new playwrights in the South. We believe fringe theatre is of vital importance in the Bournemouth area, as few venues offer it, and it supports up and coming artists as well as offering a different theatre experience.
The Show
'HAP' is a two handed comedy about a woman who goes to the Doctor because she is concerned that she always feels too happy. The play gently suggests that in today's media dominated and fast paced life style people can no longer embrace happiness. The show will run in up and coming arts venue The Winchester pub on the 14th, 20th, 21st and 27th of November. We are also hoping to take the play to several other theatres in the surrounding area as well as a few fringe venues in London.
The Team
The play was written by Bournemouth local John Foster. John started his writing career in television and film and his screenwriting credits include many episodes for TV series such as Z-Cars, Softly Softly, Crown Court, Emmerdale, Juliet Bravo, Rockliffe, Saracen, The Bill. He has also written childrens' serials, one-off dramas and dramatised documentaries, including a BAFTA award-winning BBC Omnibus on crime novelist Raymond Chandler.
He has recently crossed over to theatre and has been involved in the creation of multi-media dance dramas and is is the writer of Little Boy, a play staged at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2008. He is currently commissioned by Word of Mouth theatre company to write a stage play and several of his play have been performed in the South West.
We also have two professional actresses on board including Nathasha Stokes, who recently featured on the tv show Him n Her, as well as director Jon Nicholas who has used his drama school training and knoweldge of communication to work internationally in creative conflict management.
How your 'we fund' funds will be used
Your funding will go predominantly towards paying all our team professional rates, as well as covering marketing and touring costs. We are a not-for-profit organisation but it is very important to us that the creative team receive payment for their hard work.
