Free Time Radical is the second theatre show by The Frequency D'ici - the collaboration between performers and devisors Jamie Wood, Sebastien Lawson, Tom Frankland and producer Ric Watts.
Our first show, Paperweight, was a big hit of the 2008 Edinburgh festival, where it won a Fringe First award and went on to tour the UK in 2009. As artists, we have a strong track record in Edinburgh - since Paperweight, we have made some notable individual projects for the festival - Jamie and Sebastien collaborated on Camden People's Theatre's Icarus 2.0 (nominated for Best Ensemble, Stage Awards), and Tom and Ric collaborated on Laura Mugridge's Fringe-First winning Running on Air, which is currently on tour.
Over the last 18 months, we have been working together again creating our second show as a company, Free Time Radical, in collaboration with some brilliant UK venues, including the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich. We are now gearing up to take the show to the Edinburgh festival for a full run at Pleasance Courtyard, and are looking to raise the final amount we need to get the show there.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Free Time Radical is an epic story of domestic proportions. Ali and Jensen, two men struggling against the riptide of their thirties, are caught in a flat as a giant wave breaks. Outside the flat, the world is flooding dramatically. Whole continents are disappearing under water; populations are being wiped out. As biblical floods rage and millions die outside, they hide under the sofa and search for the TV remote.
Free Time Radical mixes surreal humour, visual poetry, storytelling and physical comedy to create is an exciting new theatre show about building walls and barriers to block out the chaos of the world; seeking refuge in the familiar; and how sometimes things are just too enormous to put into words.
Free Time Radical is much more ambitious than Paperweight, and we've been exploring global disasters, male relationships, belief and extreme sport. We're very proud of the show, and can't wait to share it with audiences in Edinburgh.

PRESS QUOTES FOR OUR WORK
***** Paperweight exists in the shadow of Albee, Beckett and Pinter; it’s brilliantly done. The British Theatre Guide
**** The observations of office life are so acute they belong in an emergency room. Metro
**** A funny, sad, truthful and surreal piece. Scotsman
**** A small thing of transient beauty. Financial Times
FILLING THAT FINAL GAP
We've been lucky enough to get some great support making this show - from our co-producers New Wolsey Theatre, from the Escalator East To Edinburgh initiative (via Colchester Arts Centre and Arts Council England) and the venues who have supported the development of the show - Jersey Arts Centre, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Corn Exchange Newbury and the Pleasance.
However, in these tough times, we still have a small hole left in our budget, and this is where we need your help!
Donations big or small from friends, supporters, fan and kind-hearted strangers will all help us reach our target and be able to successfully take the show to Edinburgh. Money raised through WeFund will be going directly to production and marketing costs in Edinburgh, to help make the show as big a hit as we can.
Thanks for taking the time to look at Free Time Radical, and thanks even more if you're willing to help us out!
