This August 2011, Fool's Proof Theatre will set off for the Edinburgh Fringe
with our new show It's Uniformation Day.
We are being presented by the Zoo, a well respected venue that presents cutting edge national
and international dance and physical theatre companies. We will play a full festival run, August 5th-29th,
at their Roxy Art House in a theatre space called 'The Loft' each day at 2:00.
It is an opportunity for us to show our work to audiences including presenters from all over the world.
It is also a very costly venture.
Production costs for this project have been funded by the Arts Council England,
with additional support from organizations in and around Liverpool, UK (see our profile).
However, none of this will cover the cost of going to Edinburgh.
Which is why we are in part using WE FUND to raise the funds to get there.
We need to raise a minimum of £6000 to cover our costs at the Fringe.
This money will be used for venue costs, accommodation, marketing, our touring technician Mary,
our intern Holly, and shared subsistence during our time living together in Edinburgh.
Our We FUND goal is nearly half of that - £2,500. If you would like to contribute but are having problems with pay pal then just contact us directly by e-mail or call 07738 905285.
We have also hosted fundraising parties in our local area (Liverpool, UK)
and are also doing online fundraising in the USA.
About the show:
What if one mighty rocket could contain all the glamour, glory and disgrace of the Academy Awards, Disneyland, Club Med and Scientology?
Audience are invited on a deluxe pilgrimage package tour to space to witness the 17th Uniformation Day; an homage to the founders of a new human era. On board, amongst the lucky winners of this once in a lifetime trip, are this year’s selected participants all tasked with ridding themselves of their obsessions.
One of many identical sisters, Alpha Bixie2 of the all-female 3rd Shiny City has lately developed the sneaking suspicion she might not be the original. Arthur Burden D6571, the sole survivor from his home planet after the Great Dehydration must expose the depth of his guilt. And bright eyed 2 Blue A, from the Orphan Sea, is convinced that utter perfection will bring her closer to attaining romantic love.
Somewhere between glittering techno fairy tale and social experiment this show is a visceral tour through the more delicate and dangerous sides of human identity, by turns ridiculous, menacing and beautifully sad.
Directed by fringe first winner Jamie Wood, design by Mamoru Iriguchi (Evening Standard Award 2009).
With original Electro Funk soundtrack by Barry Han and lighting design by Mary Cummings.

“… a highly original concept, passionately developed.
The play is thoughtful, provocative, demanding and funny.”
