Dumbshow brings freshness and anarchy to traditional theatre. The company produces big, accessible and vibrant work. We give our audiences an exciting collective experience, whilst keeping the value of the story at the centre of our work.

This year Dumbshow is back with a bang! Our much-anticipated 2011 season will feature three Fringe shows in rep at C venues throughout August. The three shows that we are touring this summer are a massive undertaking, and we are looking for funding to help us entertain audiences across the country. We produce theatre that is soulful and entertaining; we tell stories that we want our audiences to enjoy and be affected by, and we would be extremely grateful if you wanted to support us.

Here's a little more about the shows:

CLOCKHEART BOY - In this enchanting family show, Clockheart Boy learns with wide-eyed wonder the joys of stargazing, dancing, romance and friendship. Yet he soon discovers that a shadow lies over this secluded castle, in the form of the Professor's young daughter who disappeared some years before. Dumbshow invite you to a brand new fairytale about the fragility of innocence and the painfulness of truth, which will melt your heart.

The revamped family show returns to the Fringe with a fresh new cast and script by Sam Gayton, who also sees his debut novel The Snow Merchant published by Anderson this Autumn.

ROAR - is a lusty tale of 17th century London; starring love and vengeance, rampant Judges and raucous women, chaos and the darkest of desires. Dumbshow’s new play lures its audience into a London in trouble; greed, debauchery and excess are dancing like fire through the streets. The riotous Moll Cutpurse has come to settle a grudge... and won’t be happy until someone pays.

This is theatre of the fabulous; featuring live music, dance and a design aesthetic that marries period dress with stilettos and high camp. Capturing the zeitgeist of our individualistic and indulgent age where people go Gaga over self-worship, Roar examines the promise of freedom and its limits.

OEDIPUS: A LOVE STORY - is a playful retelling of a story you thought you already knew. Narrated by a flock of Welsh sheep, this energetic yet tender adaptation of Sophocles' ancient myth brings light and soul to a very twisted love story.

Suitable for the whole family, the show skilfully fuses innovative storytelling techniques, live music, puppetry and dance to completely annihilate any pre-conceptions you may have had about how Greek Tragedy should be staged.
