Little Bear Theatre in Association with Bridewell Theatre ‘Lunchbox’ season and Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds presents a new play in verse: Double Indignity…..
A naughty, adult prequel to the perennial favourite The Sleeping Beauty …
Fairy tale, songs, music and magic meet the underworld as as (allegedly!) wicked fairy Carabosse gets to have her say at last.
The play is a hugely exciting new text commssioned by Little Bear and written by Daniel O'Brien (the writing name of Colin Blumenau, Artistic Director of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds). As a registered charity we only have enough funds to develop and workshop the play leading to a reading at a central London venue with Mel. Cook and a team of 5 actors but we desperately need to raise money ASAP to get the production up on it’s feet and onto the stage. We are returning to the Bridewell Theatre (Fleet Street) in their extremely popular Xmas slot as part of their ‘Lunchbox’ season - a hugely accessible concept where you can see quality theatre for very little money in your lunchbreak – you can even bring your own sarnies along! Early in 2012 we are hoping to take the show to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds but this will be only be possible if we hit our target on We Fund!
We’re hoping to raise £1500 to invest directly in this second production from Little Bear and you can get involved for as little as £10! There are lots of opportunities to get involved in this exciting new project – from seeing your name in print in our marketing…to tickets for the first preview and a chance to meet the cast and ask them any burning questions you might have about the process in a post-show discussion, see side panels of ‘We Fund’ to see what you get in return for your donations!
Little Bear’s last production, the Arts Council funded Georgian farce ‘A Bold Stroke For A Husband (Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds and Bridewell Theatre) received huge critical acclaim, garnering 4* reviews across the board:
“A near perfect show that will have you floating back to your seats in a little bubble of contentment….Almost unbelievably this is Little Bear’s First production…Definitely A Company to watch’
The Stage.
“The key factor was the quality of the performers. All eight of them took full advantage of their moments in the spotlight with clear well-enunciated dialogue and showing excellent comic timing”.
