Our project’s mission is to “connect suppliers with their designers and designers with their customers and customers with their suppliers.” The idea behind this mission comes from a day back at a student residence where three guys asked “why is it that a very few amount of people decide what is cool and what is not, and then manufacturers from all over the world produces and customers buys these products to become clones of one another. People are individualistic today, and they want to express themselves in different ways." It just didn’t add up to us, and this project can potentially change a whole industry. We are currently completing the programming of the website, but we stand in front of problems of which we need capital. First, we need to employ a webdeveloper for a very specific task on the website concerning AJAX programming. Second, we need to promote the DO concept to both suppliers and designers. A crucial part of the community’s success is that designers and suppliers use it. Once the designers and suppliers have signed in we need capital to test the supply chain and get the ordering system running sufficiently. We will do promotions through different channels. For designers we will advertise and become apparent at designer schools and we will spend many resources on getting into contact with suppliers to promote this new type of doing business. Once the designers and suppliers are using DO, the website becomes really useful to customers, which will have many great reasons to order from DO.
How do we help designers?
Designing Opportunities is an intermediate between the designers, suppliers and the customers looking for new designs. Customers can be everything from a company, to an organization, to an individual. Designs uploaded on DO are advertised through the website and a network of designer schools all over the world. Designs can be sold on DO in many forms depending on the uploaded products from suppliers.
How do we help customers?
Designing Opportunities enable customers to choose designs from a variety of different designers and make into an actual product. If the designs uploaded on DO is not sufficient for the customer, he or she is able to post a project that designers can work on and suppliers can supply. This type of competition leaves the customer with the lowest price possible at the best quality.
How do we help suppliers?
Designing Opportunities will decrease costs for suppliers to find the right designs for their production. On top of this the suppliers will increase their reach and customer base to gain more revenue and turnover.
DO is a non-profit community. Gains from trades at DO are automatically transferred to an investment fund financing small and medium sized businesses in developing countries, creating opportunities for people in the third world. The circle is completed.
