Go To Your God Like A Soldier
by Andrew Keatley.
Edinburgh Fringe 2011, Underbelly venue.
:DELIRIUM: - Putting ordinary people in extraordinary situations.
We are a multi-disciplinary company producing new, exciting and relevant work.
For the first time, we are collaborating with a playwright - Andrew Keatley (Colourings, Old Red Lion) who has written us a piercing and powerful new play.
After spending a period of research and development with Andrew and some talented actors, we presented a sharing of work at the Southwark Playhouse. A representative from the Underbelly venue in Edinburgh came to watch and offered us a slot on the strength of what they saw. However, we will be unable to bring this show to the Underbelly without your support. If you invest in us, we will be able to invest in bringing a phenomenal piece of theatre to the Fringe.
Set in present Afghanistan, Go To Your God Like A Soldier merges :DELIRIUM:’s charged physical movement and original music with Keatley’s searing and punchy dialogue.
Praise for :DELIRIUM: -
‘Innovative, stimulating...theatrical risk-takers’ (Kevin Spacey)
Praise for Andrew Keatley -
‘Colourings marks the arrival of some very promising young talent’ **** (Time Out, Critic’s Choice)
‘Keatley will doubtless prove a new writer of note.’ (Metro)
Praise for :DELIRIUM’S last show, Your Nation Loves You, performed in the Old Vic Tunnels, 2010 -
‘a stunning night of innovative theatre […] :DELIRIUM: have clearly got bucket-loads of talent because what they have come up with is a truly unique production that took my breath away. Moving performances from ridiculously gifted young actors and actresses; intelligent and thought-provoking writing; and incredibly clever direction.’ – ***** official remotegoat review by Lesley Pinder
Praise for our composer, David M Saunders –
‘His considerable talent and craft is matched only by his remarkable sensitivity and imagination as a storyteller’ – Jeremy Whelehan (Associate Producer, Beyond The Sea)
'His instincts as a composer drive the production when necessary, and let it breathe when not. A real theatrical asset' - Hamish Jenkinson (Creative Director, Old Vic Tunnels)
Without achieving this wefund target, we will not be able to take Andrew’s fantastic play up to the Fringe. We believe passionately that Go To Your God Like A Soldier is a story that should be told. We want to tell it in the best possible way, combining the skills of young, gifted artists at a time when funding for the arts is almost impossible to come by. It is only with your support that our goals can be reached.
PLEASE HELP US GET TO THE FRINGE 2011!
