CASA Theatre Festival Ltd. ("CASA") is England’s only company dedicated to showcasing excellent contemporary Latin American theatre in the UK. Our flagship event is the annual CASA Latin American Theatre Festival which takes place in the Autumn and we are preparing for our fourth edition of the Festival this October. Since the first festival in 2007, CASA has become a unique beacon for Latin American theatre in the UK showcasing world class productions from companies and writers across the continent alongside play readings, dance, visual arts displays and much more.
We created CASA because we believed that UK audiences wanted to see brilliant Latin American theatre and we wanted to provide an opportunity every year to satisfy that demand. We believed we could create a theatre event that would be accessible to the Latin American community in this country and that might in turn encourage further engagement in the arts. We believed there was a whole group of Latin American artists working in the UK who needed artistic support and professional development. Finally we believed that it would be very exciting for theatre-makers of one culture to have the opportunity to work with theatre makers of another culture.
As we prepare for CASA Latin American Theatre Festival 2011 (“CASA 2011”) this October, we don't need to believe these things any more – we know them to be true.
