The aim is to travel to one of the Bhutanese refugee camps in Nepal. The Bhutanese Government has over the past 25 years exiled one quarter of its population for no better reason than they speak Nepali, though have been living in Bhutan for up to 400 years. The camps are poorly ran and the refugees are classed as illegal immigrants so they can get no papers, jobs or homes within nepal. This is silent genocide which must come to light in the west.
The documentary also serves as an introduction into the charity 'home is where the heart is' a not for profit charity whose aim is to help displaced people of the world to find a voice, heal and ultimately earn money in the west. The aim is to build centre's in camps where healing and counseling will be given. As well as this the centre will also have a workshop where products can be made to be sold in the west.
This is the first documentary from the charity, which is trying to establish a new way or working with social media to bring about change.
Initially the documentary will consist of 3 people, a cameraman, myself and an anthropological undergraduate.
