Amy's Chocolate - Working Title
I am looking for funding to write and submit a finished full length play to new writing theatres in London.
Cheeky I hear you say. I know. But supporting new writing and the arts will give you such a warm and happy feeling inside that you'll want to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS1cLOIxsQ8&feature=related
The truth is I can't do it on my own.
I have this idea for a new play, about a woman called Amy, and her pretend friend, Charlie. The story is fundamentally about family, and routine, and what happens to someone vulnerable when those two things break down.
I need to be able to cover the cost of my basic living expenses in order to write the play and then send it on to new writing theatres by December 2011.
I would like to begin the project on Monday the 5th September and, on Monday the 5th December 2011 I have to post and submit a completed full length play to new writing theatres in London.
At the beginning of this year I submitted my first solo play to theatres in London and received really positive feedback. Including: ‘we don’t formally give feedback, I did want to say that our reader found much to admire in the play. They really appreciated your ability to weave humour and touching characterisation amongst it all. They recognised your imagination as a writer, so I would be very keen to read more of your work in the future.’ From the National Theatre in London.
The Play, 'Matilda, Mike & Dan' has now been picked up and will be produced this September/October with the King's Head Theatre, London. As part of their Without Decor season.

I have therefore begun work on my second play, and have been encouraged to send it for consideration on completion to new writing theatres.
I would like the opportunity to take three months off from life, in order to write, workshop, and then re-write Amy’s Chocolate. To really be able to develop my voice as a writer.
