Amazine is a free bi-monthly magazine which provides a platform for emerging arts talent living and working in Scotland to be published in print.
The magazine will include, but not be limited to, short stories, excerpts, visual art, poetry, fashion spreads, interviews and features with bands and theatre makers, as well as backstage photography, set designs, costume designs, and directors notes.
It has a heavy focus on showcasing new and unpublished work but will also include in depth interviews and columns with established and aspirational Scottish talent.
The magazine will not include reviews or listings – it is a collectable, returnable journal which will be as relevant now as it is in ten years (although the names of the artists should be more recognisable then!)
It's online presence will be minimum. It is very much a print journal – something people can pick up and read over coffee, put in their bag and pass on to friends and family. It will allow people to discover new artists and talent without a wifi connection.
As well as a magazine it will be a networking opportunity – matchmaking artists to collaborate on cross discipline projects and hosting events and parties throughout the year.
It's initial distribution path will be in Glasgow's cultural hotspots – theatre, music venues, cinemas and galleries as well as independent boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants and the university campuses. We hope that within it's first year we can spread this to the rest of the central belt and one day across Scotland.
This magazine fills a much needed gap in cultural publications within Scotland and creates a massive opportunity for emerging talent to showcase their work.
